The Summa Health System Internal Medicine residency is a three-year program leading to eligibility for certification by the American Board of Internal Medicine. The major goal of the program is to train clinically competent physicians who will excel in either primary care practice or in future subspecialty training programs.
The residency program has a strong commitment to physician education. This is reflected not only in the facilities and resources available within the department and the hospitals, but in the number of full-time attending physicians. All of the medical subspecialties are represented within the hospitals and residents have the opportunity to gain additional experiences in these areas.
